EMarketer cuts social-network ad spending growth forecast

In a recent report, eMarketer has cut its forecast on the growth of social network ad spending. The research firm blames the economic downturn for the hit and the "ongoing challenge of developing effective ad models."
Even so, the numbers look rosy,at least when compared to online ad spending in other categories -- a 17% increase over 2008 levels to
$2.35 billion in spending in 2009
