Star Tribune emerges from bankruptcy

The Minneapolis/St. Paul, Minn. Star Tribune, purchased in 2007 by Avista Capital Partners from the McClatchy Co.,  is set to emerge from bankruptcy today, and will become Star Tribune Media Company, LLC. The paper will have $100 million in debt, down from $480 million when it filed Chapter 11 bankruptcy on Jan. 15.

Mark Whittaker joined the AIM Group as sales director in March 2009. His career in newspapers spans 30 years as a reporter, editor and online manager. He spent seven years as online managing editor and online director for PittsburghLive.com and the Tribune-Review Publishing Co. in Pittsburgh, and later worked as interactive media director for Beaver Newspapers Inc. in suburban Pittsburgh.
