Two acquisitions and a new CEO assuming a major vertical in Latin America are some of the news that you might have missed and should know about.

On the acquisitions side, two major auto classified players announced the acquisition of assets in Brazil and Chile.

WebMotors, Brazil’s No. 1 car classifieds portal by traffic, has acquired BuscaCarros, a RBS-owned company that manages several auto verticals in the southern states of Rio Grande do Sul and Santa Catarina.

Australia’s listed classifieds company Carsales (ASX:CAR) has acquired a major stake in Chile’s No. 1 auto classifieds portal, Chileautos. Carsales is a minor investor at WebMotors.

Additionally, a former Buscapé executive assumed the CEO position at Brazil’s WebMotors, as the vertical’s country manager, Maria Regina Botter, moved to a Visa position in Brazil. Rodrigo Borer, who led Naspers’ price comparison site in Brazil, Buscapé, for over eight years, assumed the office as WebMotors’ CEO.
