Men fall over their feet to fund Sheroes

08 Aug 2016

Women are on the march in Asia! Recently we wrote about SheOps, the growing used-goods site for women only in Pakistan (here). Today we report on progress at another women-only platform. This time in India.

Sheroes.in, a popular platform narrowly focused on jobs for women in India, raised Series A funding led by Lumis Partners, with participation of The HR Fund, and the angel investor Rajul Garg (photo).

Sheroes lists full-time jobs, part-time jobs and flexible jobs, mentorships and entrepreneurship opportunities for women.

Raghav Bahl, founder of Quintillion Media, also participated in the round – the second time he invested in the company.

“The transaction is part of a larger commitment, out of which Rupees 120 million ($1.8 million U.S.) flow in immediately,” the company said in a media release.

Besides Bahl, Sheroes had earlier raised an angel round from 500 Startups and a group of individuals including Vijay Shekhar Sharma, Rajan Anandan, Binny Bansal, Mekin Maheshwari, Girish Mathrubhootham, Indus Khaitan and Krishna Mehra.

Sheroes competes with another platform called NaukriForWomen.com. As far as we could make out, NaukriForWomen is not an Info Edge (India) brand. Info Edge operates, among others, Naukri.com, a leading job site in India.
